How ACEP Directed 100,000 Messages to Congress about PPE Shortages

The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) needed a fast way to rally support around a critical shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) during the early COVID-19 crisis, when emergency physicians were at risk and in-person advocacy was impossible. ACEP worked with Naylor Association Solutions to power a digital advocacy effort using Phone2Action technology.

Naylor Association Solutions helped ACEP launch the “Prioritize PPE” campaign with a shareable landing page that let advocates contact members of Congress in one tap. The campaign generated more than 100,000 messages from about 33,000 participants in just over a week, with nearly 35,000 total participants and 70% of them new to ACEP advocacy; ACEP also saw 40,007 new advocates added in the following weeks, a 5,551% increase. The effort helped push PPE into the national conversation, earned congressional attention, and expanded ACEP’s advocacy reach.
