A NavVis Case Study
Wuttke Ingenieure GmbH was tasked with digitally documenting the highly complex, 800-year-old Rochsburg Castle to plan a museum extension and renovation in compliance with strict German preservation guidelines. The challenge was to accurately survey the historic structure, which featured over 130 rooms across multiple levels with few right angles, a project that had previously been attempted with manual methods.
Using the NavVis VLX wearable mobile laser scanner, Wuttke Ingenieure captured approximately 20,000 square feet of the castle in just three weeks without disrupting museum operations. The resulting data was processed into a highly accurate point cloud and 3D model, which were immediately shared with the client via the NavVis IVION web platform. This solution from NavVis enabled the complete project, from scanning to the delivery of all 2D and 3D planning documents, to be finished in an economically viable and rapid timeframe of just twelve weeks.
