IBKS pushes the boundaries of scan-to-BIM with NavVis and PointFuse in a towering project

IBKS, a digital solutions and management consulting firm, faced the challenge of executing its largest and most complex scan-to-BIM project to date: a massive 450,000-square-foot active healthcare facility in Los Angeles. The project required a fast and highly accurate reality capture solution that could minimize disruption to the medical staff and handle a uniquely scattered "Swiss cheese" scan area. To meet this challenge, IBKS chose to build a new workflow around the NavVis reality capture solution, utilizing the NavVis VLX mobile scanner.

The NavVis solution enabled the IBKS team to scan each of the two 11-story towers in just 10 days. The seamless compatibility with PointFuse Pro software allowed the team to efficiently process the data, reducing the scan-to-Revit modeling time to only 12 hours per floor. This innovative workflow delivered exceptional results, maintaining high accuracy while dramatically reducing file sizes by over 66%. The project proved a tremendous success, showcasing the speed, precision, and scalability of the NavVis technology for large-scale, complex environments.
