Warner Music Group migrates 110+ servers to AWS ahead of deadline with Navisite

Warner Music Group faced a pressing deadline to vacate its Burbank data center while also seeking to modernize IT and reduce costs. Many of its critical systems, including financial and royalty applications, ran on legacy Oracle and Solaris platforms, making a straightforward cloud migration impossible. Seeking expertise, WMG partnered with managed cloud service provider Navisite for an Oracle-to-Amazon Web Services (AWS) migration.

Navisite provided a clear strategy, starting with a total cost of ownership assessment and a tailored migration plan. They prioritized applications to balance quick wins with the refactoring needed for business-critical systems, ultimately moving more than 110 application and database servers to AWS. As a result, WMG completed the migration ahead of schedule. The company now benefits from improved efficiency, security, and IT management on AWS and is planning further data center migrations with Navisite's help.
