Case Study: EDF UK achieves IT modernization and eliminates technical debt by migrating Oracle Utilities and Exadata to AWS with Navisite

A Navisite Case Study

Preview of the EDF Case Study

Navisite Helps One of the Largest Providers of Power to UK Businesses Modernize with the Migration of Oracle Utilities Platform and Oracle Exadata to AWS Cloud

EDF UK, Britain’s largest generator of zero‑carbon electricity, tasked its EDF Business Solutions (EBS) arm with modernizing a mission‑critical meter‑to‑cash environment that ran on aging Oracle CC&B and MDM applications and Oracle Exadata hardware. Facing capacity constraints, technical debt, lack of scalability and the added complexity of the pandemic, EDF set a goal to move EBS to the public cloud to improve flexibility, cost transparency and future growth potential.

Working with Navisite alongside Oracle, AWS and TCS, EDF upgraded to the Oracle Utilities C2M platform and migrated its Exadata workloads to an Amazon Multi‑Availability Zone architecture using Amazon RDS. The remote, weekend cutover was executed successfully, eliminating on‑premises technical debt, delivering cost transparency, and giving EBS the scalable, flexible cloud foundation to support growth and enter new markets.
