Leading Manufacturer Partners with Navisite for a JD Edwards Migration and Upgrade on AWS

American Cast Iron Pipe Company (AMERICAN), a century-old manufacturer of pipes, valves and related products, faced the challenge of modernizing a JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.2 instance that was hosted in an external data center for one division while consolidating the business on a single ERP. CIO John Barnhart wanted to move to the public cloud without taking on hosting responsibilities, minimize disruption to 24/7 manufacturing operations, and later bring multiple divisions up to date on the latest Release 22 tools and automation capabilities.

Navisite migrated AMERICAN’s EnterpriseOne environment to AWS, hosted and managed the system, and executed weekend migrations and a complex Release 22 upgrade—retrofitting ~50 custom objects, upgrading database/OS and architecture, replacing servers and updating barcoding. The project completed with minimal business impact, left AMERICAN code-current on Release 22, enabled new automation (including an AP automation connection expected to automate ~80% of invoicing tasks), and established an ongoing managed-services partnership to support further divisional rollouts and continuous innovation.
