Global Blood Therapeutics (GBT) is a biopharmaceutical company focused on treatments for underserved patient communities, including sickle cell disease. As the company grew and added a genomics group, its aging on-premises data center—about 10 business-critical servers—could not meet intense compute spikes or scale without significant hardware investment, prompting a move to the public cloud.

Navisite designed and executed a phased migration to a secure virtual private cloud on AWS, migrating GBT’s database to Oracle 19c on Amazon RDS, introducing microservices and a third-tier architecture, and moving licensing and R&D compute workloads.
