The West Liberty-Salem Local School District recognized the critical need to move beyond a standard lockdown-only approach to prepare for the rare but devastating possibility of an active shooter incident. To empower its staff and students with proactive, lifesaving decision-making skills, the district partnered with Navigate360 to implement its ALICE Training® program.

Navigate360’s ALICE Training® provided a multi-option response strategy, teaching techniques such as evacuation, barricading, and countering a threat. The effectiveness of the solution was proven during a real active shooter event in January 2017, where students and staff successfully evacuated the high school wing in under two minutes, barricaded doors, and made multiple 911 calls, resulting in a textbook response that demonstrated clear, lifesaving impact.
