Vanderlande Overcomes Company Culture Challenges Using EthicsPoint® Software

Vanderlande, a Dutch logistics and process automation company with more than 9,000 employees and a global footprint in airports, retail and parcel logistics, needed to launch a companywide speak-up program after its 2017 acquisition by Toyota Industries. The challenge was to meet regulatory requirements (including EU whistleblower rules) and overcome cultural differences across regions so a scattered, role-diverse workforce would feel safe and compelled to report concerns.

Vanderlande rolled out NAVEX EthicsPoint alongside an internal “Good Business” initiative, mandatory training, local-language materials and manager engagement, plus an external line for third parties. Implementation was smooth and results included higher employee trust (only 20% of reports anonymous), a shift from predominantly fraud reports to a broader range of issues, renaming the compliance function to the Good Business department, and regular Risk Committee reviews that report trends to the board — with plans to extend the practice into an integrated GRC solution.
