Speaking Up for Student Safety at Kamehameha Schools

Kamehameha Schools, a large Hawaiian K–12 education nonprofit serving more than 5,400 students and employing 4,000+ staff, needed a reporting system that would foster safety, transparency and rapid response to potential misconduct involving adults and students. With student safety a top priority, the school sought a way for students, parents and staff to easily report concerns so issues could be discovered and addressed immediately.

Kamehameha expanded its NAVEX EthicsPoint® incident management hotline—originally for staff—to include students, created a stand‑alone category for inappropriate student interactions, and trained all 400 managers on scenario‑based use. The program has been rolled out across campuses and preschools, driving year‑over‑year increases in reporting, earlier intervention on emerging issues and high manager comfort with the system (96%), helping the school prioritize and resolve student safety concerns more quickly.
