Mammal Tracker collects 100,000+ mammal records with Natural Apptitude

Natural Apptitude developed the Mammal Mapper app for the Mammal Society to address the challenge of mammals being some of the most under-recorded species in Britain. The customer needed an easy-to-use solution to encourage public participation in recording sightings to better inform conservation efforts for the UK's threatened and declining mammal species.

The solution implemented by Natural Apptitude was a mobile app that allows users to record mammal sightings and signs along a route, aided by in-built identification guides. This effort-based data collection provides valuable insights for population assessment. Since its 2018 launch, Mammal Mapper has collected over 100,000 records of more than 50 species and over 18,000 transects covering 60,000 km, significantly advancing systematic mammal monitoring across the UK.
