Hebridean Whale & Dolphin Trust almost doubles sightings reports with Natural Apptitude

The Hebridean Whale & Dolphin Trust faced the challenge of managing wildlife sightings from diverse sources and sought a streamlined, mobile-friendly solution to make it easier for people to submit reports. Natural Apptitude developed the Whale Track app and website to address this need.

The solution from Natural Apptitude was a GPS-based app that works without a phone signal, allowing sightings to be recorded in remote areas. This led to the creation of a large citizen scientist community. The results were significant, with over 6,000 registered users and more than 10,000 cetacean reports recorded in a single year, almost doubling the reporting rate and earning an honorary mention in the EU Prize for Citizen Science.
