Butterfly Conservation logs over 100,000 sightings with Natural Apptitude

Butterfly Conservation, a UK-based environmental organization, needed a digital solution to support its annual Big Butterfly Count citizen science survey. Their challenge was to create a system that was simple for the public to use for recording sightings while also being robust enough for their data scientists and ecologists to manage the vast amount of information collected. They partnered with the vendor Natural Apptitude, utilizing their Coreo platform for this project.

Natural Apptitude developed a user-friendly app and website that made it easy for participants to log their sightings. The solution successfully managed the large-scale data collection, enabling Butterfly Conservation to gather vital insights into species populations. As a result of the software developed by Natural Apptitude, participation increased significantly, with over 100,000 people submitting data in the most recent year, providing scientists with the critical information needed to protect the natural environment.
