Case Study: NY Tech Alliance achieves a centralized online community and sustained membership revenue with NationBuilder

A NationBuilder Case Study

Preview of the NY Tech Alliance Case Study

NY Tech Alliance helps professionals find virtual community

NY Tech Alliance (NYTA), a nonprofit that has connected New York’s tech community for more than 15 years, needed a way to centralize its long-running membership data and create a revenue-generating, easily managed membership platform while running with a very small team. After evaluating community platforms, NYTA selected NationBuilder to build a centralized database, website and CMS that could consolidate Meetup and other community channels and be operated scalably by one full-time staffer and contractors.

NationBuilder implemented a unified site and membership/donation infrastructure plus a fast-turnaround COVID-19 resource center and event pages (with Eventbrite integration as needed). That rollout let NYTA start taking paying memberships via organic search within the first week, convert recurring in-person programming to virtual offerings, and host 41 events since April 2020—demonstrating immediate revenue and engagement impact and giving the organization a scalable platform for continued growth.
