A NationBuilder Case Study
Move LA, a coalition working to make Los Angeles more livable, faced the challenge of uniting diverse constituencies to pass Measure M—an ambitious half‑cent sales tax to expand rapid transit, reduce traffic and pollution, and create jobs. With support from NationBuilder and its organizing platform, Move LA set out to build a broad public dialogue and bridge the transportation community, businesses, labor, and local elected officials to find common ground.
Using NationBuilder's tools to coordinate outreach and coalition‑building, Move LA emphasized shared benefits over single‑issue agendas and successfully brought multiple stakeholders together. That approach helped Measure M win nearly 70% support on Election Day; the measure is expected to generate about $860 million per year and create roughly 465,690 new jobs dedicated to transit and highway projects.
