LivableStreets Alliance accelerates transportation solutions in Boston

LivableStreets Alliance is a five-person Boston-based advocacy nonprofit working on three major initiatives—the 200-mile Emerald Network, Better Buses, and Vision Zero—but faces the typical nonprofit constraints of limited staff and complex, multi-jurisdictional campaigns. To punch above their weight and maintain distinct campaign identities, they run three NationBuilder-powered sites and rely on targeted digital organizing to engage residents across neighborhoods.

Using NationBuilder’s field tools, mapping, and targeted email capabilities, LivableStreets organized neighborhood-specific campaigns and mobilized 200 people to a budget hearing, prompting the City Council to request additional funding for Vision Zero. NationBuilder’s platform helped the team advance three initiatives, contributed to a $5 million increase in Boston’s transportation budget (including 20 new staff positions), and amplified the impact of their lean team.
