A NationBuilder Case Study
The New Democratic Party of Canada ran a fast‑moving, grassroots leadership campaign to elect Jagmeet Singh and faced the challenge of signing up tens of thousands of new members, organizing massive amounts of incoming supporter data, and unifying diverse communities online and offline. To meet that need they built a NationBuilder site/nation (with partners like cStreet) and used NationBuilder as the central digital hub for membership capture and engagement.
NationBuilder provided the campaign’s core digital infrastructure and integrations (Hustle, Slack, text/mobile tools, paths and drip emails), automating data workflows, powering GOTV and coordinating volunteers. As a result, the New Democratic Party of Canada recorded 47,000 new member sign‑ups, 38% of members became eligible to vote, and Jagmeet Singh won with 53.8% of first‑ballot votes—outcomes NationBuilder helped enable.
