Unite Union faced the dual challenge of winning a high-stakes campaign to end Zero Hours Contracts and then turning that campaign momentum into sustained organising, recruitment and service delivery for largely mobile, low-hour workers. To collect the hard data they needed, engage non-members, and streamline communications and casework, Unite engaged For Purpose to build an action-oriented website and database on the NationBuilder platform.

Using NationBuilder as the backbone, the project delivered a customised membership portal, cloud-based organiser tools and a mobile-first app with notifications, peer-to-peer recruitment, event and petition tooling, and casework logging. The NationBuilder-powered system helped drive deeper member participation and a larger non-member database, supported the victory that secured guaranteed hours for tens of thousands of workers, and produced measurable gains in organising efficiency—better data capture, tracking of recruitment and incident trends, and faster, more targeted outreach.
