A NationBuilder Case Study
Amnesty International’s Indonesian branch (Amnesty Indonesia) faced increasing government suppression and the need to move from traditional letter-writing to scalable digital advocacy to protect vulnerable groups and push a 9‑Point Human Rights Agenda — including rapid response during the COVID‑19 crisis. To build a digital infrastructure that could identify, segment and engage supporters, Amnesty Indonesia partnered with NationBuilder (Enterprise) and their account manager Lison Laissus.
Using NationBuilder’s action pages, database segmentation and targeting tools, Amnesty Indonesia launched online petitions, a localized letter‑writing campaign and social‑to‑CRM outreach that grew their supporter base by 70%, reached 128K supporters and 15.7K volunteers, and drove major engagement gains (tenfold increases in open/click rates). Campaigns collected thousands of postcards and petition signatures (including ~5,000 postcards, over 7,000 COVID petition signatures and broader petition totals cited at 50K), converted >20% of contacted Twitter followers into supporters, and helped spur government actions (investigations, an amnesty and a $100K pledge) — outcomes enabled by NationBuilder.
