A National Instruments Case Study
Skysafe, an innovative U.S.-based company, faced the challenge of defending against rapidly evolving and sophisticated commercial drone threats. These threats required a defense system that could be deployed quickly and was mobile enough for military vehicle use, all while avoiding the long development cycles of traditional Department of Defense programs. They turned to National Instruments and its Ettus Research USRP X310 software-defined radio (SDR) to build a solution.
National Instruments provided an open and flexible SDR platform that allowed Skysafe to rapidly prototype and deploy new countermeasure algorithms. Using the USRP X310, Skysafe developed a highly capable, low SWaP (size, weight, and power) drone defense system that was ruggedized for vehicle mounting. This solution from National Instruments enabled Skysafe to deliver its world-class capability to the field faster and at a much lower cost to the government.
