A National Instruments Case Study
Shining Technologies Co. Ltd., a developer of LED testers, faced a challenge as falling LED prices forced manufacturers to seek higher-yield, lower-cost testers that still maintained high measurement accuracy and a full test plan. To overcome the production bottleneck of slow single-site testers, they partnered with National Instruments.
The solution implemented by National Instruments utilized the NI PXIe-4137 Source Measure Unit (SMU). Its industry-leading 1.8 MS/s sampling rate eliminated the need for an oscilloscope, while its 200 V and pulse mode capabilities enabled safe and accurate testing of high-power LEDs. By integrating this hardware with their multi-site optoelectronic technology, Shining Technologies created a tester that is five times faster than traditional alternatives, testing over 40 LEDs per second, which significantly increased production capacity and reduced hardware costs for their customers.
