Innovative HIL Testbed Validates the Software Embedded in Socomec Uninterruptible Power Supply Systems

SOCOMEC SA, a global provider of electrical equipment including uninterruptible power supplies, needed a hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulator to rigorously validate the software in its power converters. The challenge was to test product functionality and robustness under a wide array of extreme and non-ideal conditions while meeting strict real-time performance constraints.

National Instruments provided the solution, implementing a system built on NI PXI Express and FPGA hardware with the OPAL-RT eHSx64 solver. Using NI software including LabVIEW and VeriStand, the solution dramatically cut model compilation time from hours to under a minute and enabled comprehensive robustness testing that was previously impossible. As a result, SOCOMEC SA has significantly reduced development and validation times, improved product quality, and accelerated its time to market.
