A National Instruments Case Study
The customer, Elvesys, a small French startup, faced the grand challenge of creating a fast and reliable pathogen detection method to combat public health emergencies. They needed a solution to quickly and inexpensively diagnose threats like Ebola and anthrax, where minutes matter.
The vendor, National Instruments, provided the solution through its NI USB-6003 low-cost multifunction DAQ device and LabVIEW software. This technology enabled Elvesys to develop the world's fastest pathogen detection platform, Fastgene, which can detect Ebola in six minutes and anthrax in seven. The use of NI products reduced development time, kept costs low, and resulted in the technology being deployed for operational use, earning Elvesys a national innovation award.
