DSPL Builds a Portable, Scalable Radar Target Echo Simulator for Radar Test and Evaluation

Digilogic Systems Pvt. Ltd. (DSPL), a systems integrator, needed to develop a realistic radar testing system to simulate complex field environments, including multiple targets and clutters, within a controlled laboratory setting. Their challenge was to create this sophisticated Radar Target Echo Simulator to justify radar signal processor algorithms prior to expensive and non-repeatable real-world deployment.

Using National Instruments' PXI Express hardware, including the PXI Vector Signal Transceiver (VST), and the LabVIEW software platform, DSPL built a portable and scalable solution in just six months. The system, which processes signals with a latency of only 2.4 microseconds, successfully delivers realistic field signals for radar evaluation. National Instruments' technology allowed DSPL to easily upgrade the system for different frequency bands and add new features, demonstrating significant scalability with minimal additional R&D effort.
