CACI, a provider of information solutions and services for national security clients, faced the challenge of replacing unsupportable legacy test equipment used by the Department of Defense (DoD) to repair weapons system components. They needed a versatile, sustainable, and compliant automated test solution that could adapt to obsolescence issues and serve as a replacement for a range of single-purpose legacy systems.
The solution was developed using National Instruments technology, including a PXI-based hardware architecture with various NI modules and the LabWindows/CVI, LabVIEW, and TestStand software environments. This allowed CACI to create the Common Bench-top Automatic Test Set (CBATS), a popular and competitively priced test solution that has replaced dozens of legacy test systems containing hundreds of unique parts.
