A National Instruments Case Study
Techna International Ltd, a designer and manufacturer of electric safety devices like circuit breakers, faced the challenge of making their labor-intensive and time-consuming safety tests less manual. Their previous methods required constant human operator attention for hours, introducing the risk of error and danger due to the high electrical currents involved. They partnered with National Instruments to automate this critical process.
The solution implemented by National Instruments used a CompactDAQ Ethernet chassis with digital and analog I/O modules to automate the test processes. This system used pneumatics for mechanical operation tests and sensors to read electrical circuit status, allowing for remote operation and increased safety. By using National Instruments tools, Techna International achieved a faster development process, reduced costs, and created a reusable code repository for future projects, ensuring the reliability of every circuit breaker they produce.
