Automated Test System for SSR Transponder

Becker Avionics Polska needed to create a highly flexible and automated test system for secondary surveillance radar (SSR) transponders. The challenge involved developing a system capable of performing complex RF communication tests and simulating a full airborne environment, all while ensuring compliance with stringent RTCA/ICAO standards.

Using National Instruments PXI hardware and the LabVIEW software platform, the company developed the XPDR Test System. This NI solution delivered new technical capabilities, enabling unprecedented levels of performance and reliability that were confirmed through long-term, continuous testing. The system's success prevents costly test failures that could delay product development, and it will also be used to test transponders during the manufacturing process.
