Acquiring and Analyzing EEG Signals With DAQ and NI LabVIEW

The customer, UNO-LUX NS d.o.o., faced the challenge of replacing outdated EEG equipment for a university neurophysiology laboratory. They needed a new system for acquiring, analyzing, and presenting electroencephalogram signals that could be tailored to specific user demands, avoiding the high cost of a new dedicated commercial solution. To address this, they worked with National Instruments, utilizing an NI PCI-6220 DAQ board and the NI LabVIEW software environment.

National Instruments provided a solution where the DAQ device directly accepted signals from an existing amplifier. The extensive library of prebuilt signal processing and analysis functions within LabVIEW, including FFT and wavelet transformations, significantly accelerated application development. This allowed UNO-LUX to rapidly create a customizable system that could filter signals, perform complex analyses, generate reports, and even control a treadmill, all meeting the laboratory's specific research requirements efficiently.
