Simplified Storage with On-demand Scale

Saint Michael’s College, a selective liberal arts school near Burlington, Vermont serving about 3,200 users, faced rapidly growing data (around 12TB) and an increasingly complex, costly storage/backup/DR environment. Backups could no longer finish in the allotted weekend window, restores were slow and labor-intensive, retention was limited, and IT needed a simpler, scalable solution that required minimal management and reliable support.

Saint Michael’s replaced its siloed infrastructure with the Nasuni Service, consolidating file storage, backup and disaster recovery into a cloud-backed system with local Nasuni Filers and unlimited snapshot history. The Nasuni Management Console enabled fast, self-service restores by helpdesk staff, reduced provisioning costs by caching only active data locally, and immediately supported new projects (like online art portfolios). Migration also uncovered previously undetected infected files, and IT reports significantly simplified management and excellent vendor support.
