Research Institute Chooses NAKIVO Backup & Replication to Enhance Data Protection Strategy

Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research (CIER), a Taiwan-based policy think tank that handles large volumes of sensitive government and commercial research data, faced growing risks and operational strain from its daily tape-based backup process. Tape backups—transported off-site to meet regulations—were slow, exposed to theft or loss, suffered compatibility issues, offered long recovery times, and provided no fast way to verify backup integrity, prompting CIER to reevaluate its data protection approach.

CIER implemented NAKIVO Backup & Replication to protect its 20 virtual hosts and leverage existing NAS hardware for off-site backup between Taipei and Kaohsiung.
