Synectics plc, a UK‑based provider of advanced surveillance and networked security systems with over 500 staff and roughly 30 ESXi hosts across two datacenters, needed a more reliable, centralized way to protect business‑critical VMs (Exchange, SQL and shared data). Their previous mix of tape and disparate disk backups was hard to manage, offered limited visibility and no simple way to replicate VMs for disaster recovery.

By deploying NAKIVO Backup & Replication on two Synology RS2416RP+ NAS appliances (~48 TB each), Synectics centralized daily VM backups, enabled offsite replication and added screenshot verification of recoverability. The solution improved backup performance versus tape, allows key VM replication (about 6 hours for large datasets) and near‑instant failover at the remote site, removed tape handling, and saved the IT team roughly one full day per week on backup administration.
