NAKIVO on NAS Increases VM Backup Speed by 15X for a University

Asia-Pacific International University, a private university in Thailand serving more than 1,000 students, needed a fast, reliable VM backup solution to protect critical systems (Moodle, student and financial records, and proprietary servers) running on VMware. Their legacy backup software was slow and unreliable—recoveries could take all night—so the IT team sought a solution that would enable rapid backups and dependable recovery without heavy administrative overhead.

They deployed NAKIVO Backup & Replication on existing Synology NAS appliances, using VMware CBT, global deduplication, compression and skip-swap-files, with hourly and six-hour backup schedules and VM replication for the most critical database.
