CENIA, the Czech Environmental Information Agency, is a government body that collects and distributes national environmental data and runs critical services like mail, accounting and web servers. Using custom backup scripts left the agency with frequent failures, very long backup windows (up to a weekend for a 1 TB VM) and rapidly growing storage needs, so CENIA needed a faster, more reliable VM backup solution with effective deduplication.
