NAKIVO Helps Museum Improve VM Recovery

The South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology, home of Ötzi the Iceman, runs a small but critical IT environment (2 physical servers and 10 VMs) hosting ticketing, SQL, remote desktop and financial systems. Facing slow, hard-to-manage tape backups that risked costly downtime and potential museum closure, the museum sought a modern, easy-to-use virtualized backup solution to ensure fast recovery and data protection.

The museum deployed NAKIVO Backup & Replication as a virtual appliance with backups to a QNAP NAS and local drives, using image-based, incremental, application-aware backups, automated policies and email alerts. Backups now complete in about two hours daily and entire VMs can be recovered in minutes, delivering smoother IT operations, faster restores, time savings and greater reliability — restoring the team’s peace of mind.
