NAKIVO decreases VM Disaster Recovery Time from 4 Hours to 30 Minutes for Dartford Borough Council

Dartford Borough Council, which supports roughly 104,000 residents and runs about 100 VMware VMs across five sites, faced slow, complex disaster recovery from a legacy backup solution. Recovery often required manual VM recreation, proprietary snapshots, tape retrieval and could take up to four hours (or longer for file restores), putting council services at risk and prompting the need for a reliable, affordable replacement.

After evaluating options, the council deployed NAKIVO Backup & Replication to replicate SAN-to‑SAN data and protect VMs using forever‑incremental jobs, VMware CBT, network acceleration and Direct SAN Access. The intuitive solution enabled multiple daily snapshots and non‑disruptive DR testing, cutting disaster recovery time from about four hours to roughly 30 minutes, reducing costs and operational complexity while allowing on‑demand DR testing.
