OPO Oeschger AG is a Swiss supplier of tools and fittings with eight sites and over 200 employees whose operations rely on multiple VMware virtual machines. The company’s previous VM backup solution was complex, expensive, and limited in retention, so IT sought an easy-to-use, QNAP-deployable solution offering forever-incremental backups and robust recovery options.

OPO installed NAKIVO Backup & Replication directly on a QNAP NAS, enabling a rapid deployment and simpler administration. Using VMware CBT plus global deduplication and compression, backups complete in about five minutes, consume far less storage, support many more daily jobs, and allow up to 1,000 recovery points. The setup also isolates backups from the main infrastructure, reduces patching and admin overhead, and delivered significant storage and cost savings (around CHF 200,000).
