MIB School of Management Achieves 6X Faster VM Backup and Reduces Backup Administration Time by 85% with NAKIVO

MIB School of Management, an international business school in Trieste, Italy, runs about 20 VMware VMs on two physical hosts supporting AD, Exchange, SharePoint and other services. The IT team needed fast, reliable backups for decades of student and institutional data but struggled with legacy backup solutions that were slow, error-prone and required hours of weekly manual administration — for example, a 700 GB file server once took about 12 hours to back up.

MIB deployed NAKIVO Backup & Replication, which proved simple to install and manage and added deduplication, compression and Instant File Recovery. As a result, full VM backups run roughly 6× faster (about 2 hours for the environment), backup administration time fell by ~85% (from ~2 hours/week to ~15 minutes), and storage needs were dramatically reduced (around 90% space savings).
