A NAKIVO Case Study
FAMUR, one of the world’s largest mining machinery manufacturers with 37 companies, 11 production plants and over 4,000 employees, needed reliable protection for 336 virtual machines across a VMware head office and multiple Hyper-V branch sites. Backup, replication and weekly restores were critical for its manufacturing systems, but the incumbent backup stack was difficult to operate, required specialist intervention, carried high maintenance costs, and could not scale storage without extra fees.
After testing vendors, FAMUR deployed NAKIVO Backup & Replication—installing a Director on Windows and Transporters on QNAP NAS at branch sites—to protect both VMware and Hyper-V environments. Using VM backup, instant VM and granular recovery, and per-CPU licensing, the company optimized backup storage, sped up backups and restores, reduced administration time and vendor support dependence, and lowered ongoing costs.
