Handel Architects Saves 50% on Backup Costs with NAKIVO

Handel Architects is a New York–based architecture and design firm with over 150 staff and projects worldwide. Their VMware-based IT environment stores large, billable 3D and modeling files, so reliable, fast recovery is critical; however, their previous backup tools were costly, slow, and one was being discontinued, prompting the firm to seek a simple, affordable solution that could leverage their existing Synology NAS.

Handel deployed NAKIVO Backup & Replication on the Synology NAS to provide unified VM backup and replication with an easy web interface. The solution improved backup visibility and reliability, enabled daily/weekly and long‑term recovery points, and used global deduplication and compression to cut storage use by about 30% and backup costs by roughly 50%, with plans to adopt instant VM recovery and replication for faster disaster recovery.
