Achieving IFRS 16 Compliance with Streamlined Lease Accounting Operations

TomTom, the Amsterdam‑based leader in location technology with offices in 30 countries, needed a centralized way to manage a distributed lease portfolio — 53 buildings across 43 entities and roughly 400 leased cars — as an early adopter of IFRS 16. Their agreements were not centrally stored and Excel-based processes were proving cumbersome, so TomTom sought a globally accessible lease accounting solution to ensure timely compliance and long‑term sustainability.

They implemented Nakisa Lease Administration for its native SAP integration, IFRS 16 calculations, centralized repository (including PDF storage and tagging) and visibility into payment schedules. As a result TomTom achieved compliance, streamlined monthly, quarterly and annual accounting processes, reduced time and cost spent on manual calculations, and gained global visibility into €34.3 million of lease liabilities across 400–500 contracts.
