Austrian Federal Forests reduces operating costs and migrates GIS to Azure Cloud with Nagarro

The Austrian Federal Forests (ÖBf) faced the challenge of modernizing its complex geoinformation system (GIS) to reduce operating costs and achieve greater flexibility. They needed a strategic partner with expertise in software architecture and cloud solutions to evaluate their existing service and plan a migration. They partnered with Nagarro to upgrade their system and explore a potential cloud operation on Microsoft Azure.

Nagarro designed a proof-of-concept cloud service architecture on Azure, comparing IaaS and PaaS options to find the most suitable solution. Following a robust implementation plan, Nagarro successfully migrated the service, achieving the client's main objectives of reduced operating costs and greater resource flexibility. This project served as a successful pilot for ÖBf, proving the advantages of cloud operation and enabling a smooth migration for future workloads.
