New Mexico State University migrates dozens of apps to OCI in 6 hours with Mythics

New Mexico State University, a major research institution, faced the immense challenge of migrating its complex on-premises Ellucian Banner ERP suite, including dozens of software modules and databases, to the cloud. The university partnered with vendor Mythics Inc. to plan and execute this lift-and-shift migration to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), a project that presented a substantial learning curve for their internal team.

Mythics implemented the solution by conducting thorough discovery sessions to map software integrations and develop a new system architecture for OCI. They used Oracle’s Zero Downtime Migration methodology for the cutover, which was completed in a tight six-hour window with only minor issues. The results include a future-proofed infrastructure that is expected to yield long-term cost savings, lower maintenance, and significantly improved operational efficiency, such as reducing a data cloning process from four days to a matter of hours.
