A MySQL Case Study
The Phone House Telecom GmbH, a German subsidiary of The Carphone Warehouse, serves over 1.5 million customers with a full range of telecom and multimedia services. Facing rapid growth in online traffic, the company struggled with a fragmented legacy environment—its online shop, CMS and billing systems ran on different platforms that were costly and difficult to scale and maintain.
To address this, The Phone House standardized on MySQL Enterprise and deployed a scale-out architecture with one master and two replicated slaves for load distribution, security and easier administration. The move delivered high performance, automated monitoring and a reliable foundation for the CMS, shop, invoicing and customer self-service systems—resulting in a cost-effective, scalable platform and seven years of production use without a database server failure.
