Telenor Powers its Next Generation Mobile Broadband Services with MySQL Cluster

Telenor Sweden, a full-service telecom serving about 1.9 million mobile subscribers across Telenor, Bredbandsbolaget and Glocalnet, needed a way to deliver always-on, real-time IP management and authentication for fixed and mobile services (DHCP, RADIUS, VMPS, DNS, SNMP) while supporting personalized service rules, OSS support tools and rapid expansion into mobile broadband, VoIP, IPTV and LTE. Even short interruptions in IP leasing would cause significant customer dissatisfaction, so high availability and low-latency performance were mission-critical.

Telenor built its Nexus IP management platform on MySQL Cluster, using its distributed, in-memory architecture, sub-second failover, online maintenance and cross-site replication. The deployment enabled zero-downtime service launches, seamless scaling for rapid subscriber growth, consolidated subscriber and provisioning data across ISPs, and improved customer support and real-time authentication for current and future mobile services.
