A MySQL Case Study
Telemaque, founded in 2000, provides hosted, end-to-end call center services that unify customer interactions across web, voice and SMS/MMS. As call volumes and real-time requirements grew, their LAMP/MyISAM-based backend struggled to meet the scaling and carrier-grade availability needed to support SIP call switching, routing, AAA and Call Detail Records (CDRs); they required a simpler, highly available solution capable of delivering 99.999% uptime.
After an extensive evaluation, Telemaque deployed MySQL Cluster (v7.1), rigorously testing it against simulated hardware, software and network failures, then optimizing queries for production. Running on 4 data nodes and 6 MySQL Server API nodes, the cluster now handles over 330,000 queries per second, has provided continuous availability (including zero-downtime upgrades), and meets the low-latency, high-throughput requirements of their converged telephony services.
