RightNow Technologies Delivers Software-as-a-Service Using MySQL

RightNow Technologies is a SaaS provider of CRM solutions for large global enterprises (customers include Black & Decker, Electronic Arts, Nikon and British Airways). Rapid customer growth created a business challenge: the company needed a reliable, scalable, high-performance infrastructure that could handle heavy, high-volume deployments while keeping capacity and operating costs under control.

RightNow built its platform on an open-source stack with MySQL at its core, using a horizontal scale-out architecture with master–slave replication, failover, backup and reporting servers and geographic redundancy. The deployment enabled RightNow to triple web traffic and manage 30+ TB of data, about 17 billion queries and 500 million page turns per month across thousands of customer schemas, while more than 200 servers are administered by just four DBAs—delivering the required scalability, performance and cost efficiency.
