MySQL Delivers 50% Lower Database Costs as NetHawk Develops Network Monitoring Solutions to Improve Subscriber Experience

NetHawk, a Finland-based provider of software network testing and monitoring tools for telecoms and VoIP operators, needed a database that could support 24x7 availability, very high throughput and low latency for probe and KPI data while keeping license, maintenance and hardware costs low to help operators deliver better subscriber experience at competitive prices.

After evaluating options, NetHawk embedded MySQL Embedded Server Advanced, using the community edition for prototyping and MySQL Enterprise tools for management. The MySQL solution cut database costs by about 50% versus proprietary products, handled roughly 20,000 writes/sec and generated up to 8 TB (10–20 billion rows) per month, improving scalability, performance and DBA productivity while speeding time-to-market.
