KACE™ Relies on MySQL to Deliver Mission-Critical Systems Management Solution

KACE is a leading systems-management appliance vendor whose KBOX family manages more than 400,000 nodes for over 750 customers worldwide. Targeting mid-sized enterprises (100–10,000 computers) with small, multi‑tasking IT teams, KACE set out to deliver an appliance that was easy to deploy, comprehensive in features (provisioning, inventory, software distribution, patching, helpdesk, reporting) and affordable—unlike complex, high‑cost software solutions that require specialized administrators.

KACE embedded the MySQL Embedded Server in every KBOX (including virtual appliances) because it was embeddable, familiar to their engineers, cross‑platform and low‑maintenance. MySQL enabled separate instances per group for security, seamless upgrades without code changes, and Jasper‑based reporting; it cut database-related costs by about 90% versus proprietary alternatives, simplified development and maintenance, and helped KACE quickly establish KBOX as a reliable, low‑TCO systems‑management solution.
