A MySQL Case Study
Clickability is a SaaS leader in web content management, powering hundreds of customers and hundreds of millions of monthly page views, ad deliveries and emails. Running an 8,000-user platform that generates 100 GB of content per month and sustains ~10,000 query executions per second on a MySQL back end, Clickability faced a critical challenge: small inefficiencies in SQL could waste large amounts of compute and slow publishing at scale, and the company needed to optimize its most frequent, resource‑heavy queries while keeping database administration lean.
By adopting MySQL Query Analyzer and MySQL Enterprise Monitor, Clickability quickly identified and fixed its costliest queries—rewriting one to move sorting into the application and limit result sets—cutting database load and doubling publishing performance. The Enterprise Monitor simplified administration of 30 MySQL servers, enabled faster troubleshooting, improved hardware utilization, and let the operations team scale (from three to six SysAdmins) without hiring dedicated DBAs, delivering measurable cost and performance gains.
