A MySQL Case Study
Buongiorno is a global mobile content and services provider delivering apps, payments and social/location-based services through direct connections to 130+ telecom operators. To support rapid launch and growth of consumer-facing mobile applications, the company needed a high-performance, easily managed database platform that could scale cost‑effectively, provide strong availability, and improve DevOps productivity through effective monitoring.
Buongiorno standardized on MySQL Enterprise Edition running on virtualized servers with more than 50 MySQL instances (including 40+ replicated “chains”), storing over 8 TB of master data and handling ~50,000 queries/sec and ~15,000 transactions/sec. Using MySQL Enterprise Monitor for centralized dashboards and alerts, Oracle technical support, and a migration to MySQL 5.6 (plus planned backup integration), the company achieved cost‑effective scale-out, stronger high availability, faster issue resolution, and increased operational efficiency.
